How much does a Voiceover cost?

Voiceover Rates, Terms & Conditions

A Few Key Points

  • Voiceover rates depend on several factors, including the type of project (radio, TV, online), the market reach (local, national, international), script length, and how the audio will be used.

  • Rates can be based on the project, word count, or script length.

  • The more details you provide about your project, the easier it is for me to give you an accurate quote and the right read.

  • The rates listed below are starting prices.

  • I’m happy to provide a free sample read before confirming a booking.

  • Rates are based on the UK market, with potential adjustments for smaller markets.

  • If you have a specific pricing structure in mind (e.g., per-minute pricing for explainer videos), let me know, and I’ll see if we’re a good fit.

Corporate, Web & Explainer Videos

Starting at £250 – this covers:
✅ A professional, broadcast-quality recording, fully edited and delivered in WAV or another format of your choice.
✅ Studio hire.
✅ 'Non-broadcast' usage (client website, social media, internal training, e-learning).
✅ Free retakes for errors.
✅ Live direction options (Skype, Zoom, Google Meet, Cleanfeed, Source Connect).
✅ Free retakes unless the script changes after recording—script revisions are billed separately as a new project.

Advertising & Broadcast Work

For Online Ads & Video on Demand, an estimate of impressions is helpful for an accurate quote. If usage details aren’t available, usage is charged at 100% of the session fee per 3 months.

For TV Commercials, knowing the campaign size (e.g., TVRs) allows me to generate an accurate quote using usefee.tv.

Audiobooks

Rates depend on whether you need a fully edited and proofed audiobook or raw audio.

  • Fully edited & proofed audio: £250 per finished hour.

E-Learning

I offer three pricing options:

  • Raw audio: £0.10 per word.

  • Edited audio: £0.17 per word.

  • Edited audio with file creation: £0.20 per word.
    Minimum order: £200.

Video Games

  • £250 per hour + usage fee (typically the session fee again).

  • Indie projects are priced according to the VAC rate guide.

Other Projects

Rates vary based on the project and client. A good benchmark is the Gravy for the Brain Rate Guide, but feel free to reach out for a tailored quote.

Payment Terms & Conditions

  • Payment is due within 30 days of invoice via bank transfer.

  • If payment is expected to take longer, please arrange this in advance.

  • Late payments beyond 30 days (without prior agreement) will incur fees in line with the Late Payment of Commercial Debt Act (2002).

Copyright & Usage Rights

  • All rights (including copyright, broadcast, and intellectual property) remain with me, the voice artist, until full payment is made.

  • Once paid, you receive a license for the agreed usage (as outlined in the invoice).

  • Usage is limited to the timeframe, platform, and geographical region specified in the invoice. Additional usage requires a separate agreement.

  • My voice may not be used for AI, text-to-speech, or synthetic voice models under any circumstances.

  • Licensing rights cannot be transferred to a third party or another company without my written consent.

Revisions & Retakes

Self-Directed Sessions (You don’t listen in while I record)

  • I’ll send a sample for approval before recording.

  • If you’re not fully happy, I’ll adjust the read at no extra cost.

  • However, script changes after recording will incur a revision fee, proportional to the changes made.

Directed Sessions (You listen in and give feedback live)

  • You receive all recorded takes to select from.

  • The session length and fee are agreed upon in advance.

  • If extra time is needed, additional fees apply:

    • Up to 15 mins: £60

    • Extra 30 mins: £125

    • Extra full hour: £250

  • Once you approve the recording, any further changes (to the script or project) will be treated as a new booking.
